Weekend of Races

A very wet and miserable weekend for pretty much anything.....including anything on our beloved 2 wheels? Before I go into this weekend.....I have to mention that Erin Sikora did make the drive down to Madison last weekend for the Crits....I believe their was a top ten brought home by Erin.....nice job!

So then a rainy Saturday rolls around and Quentin hops in the Whitewater road race with Nate Phelps of the Hudson Flyers and rides a strong race ending around 20th if I remember correctly! Great ride Quentin, a solo Flyer in the race.

Sunday morning and after checking the radar and the local weather forecast.....Steele and I decide that it is raining too much and the storms are going to roll in to the Sheboygan area, back to bed? 5 minutes later I get a text....come on....let's go....so we get wet! Be there in 15 minutes and we are off to race in the rain?

Post race pic shows smiles and we were both glad we won the mental battle and made it to the race! Marc rode well and ended up 4th in the small Cat. 5 field.....I flatted early to end my rainy day....went back the car and changed tubes....back on the course to finish the last lap plus a couple more....pride?

Also Saturday, Jeff Gantz was down in the Milwaukee area racing the WCA Crits......6th place in his Cat....3 or 4? Very cool!

A wet but good weekend of racing on the road for the Flyers......felt good to get the heart rate up and see how much more work is needed.....quite a bit in my case! Good job to all who braved the weather and threw a leg over the top tube for some miles....training or racing!

Wednesday night at the Camp, 6pm. Please let me know if you plan on making the trail work day this Saturday.....we have to plan the work according to the size of the crew, than ks and see you there.

Team News

A quick look into the weekend gives us a chance at a wet Saturday morning ride, looks like on and off rain and Thunder showers......this time of the year we are in the ride no matter the weather mode! Soooooo, see you all Saturday morning for the ride!

On that note, hoping for a little better turnout this weekend, no more Flyers out-numbered on their own ride!!! With the WORS opener not that far away, we should be seeing a lot of riders out on the bikes......we will continue to split into the faster-longer and then group 2.....a little shorter and a not quite as fast. Please do not feel like you will not be able to keep up, all are welcome and will benefit from riding with the group and faster riders!

Sunday, let's see how much rain we get.....perhaps a Camp ride is in order for Sunday at some point? As for the Camp, please mark your calendar for May 2nd, Trail work Day at the Camp. We need a good showing to get a lot of work done and to make sure they know we do indeed care about the trails out there.

Clothing order #2 is almost set to go, hopefully we see it in time for Iola? The Kenda order is in and with Sea Otter wrapped up....we should see our goods arrive soon!

Get on yer bike and ride, racing season is upon us! Team rides will be Wednesday nights (6pm)at the Camp and Saturday mornings (830am) on the road. Questions.....you know how to reach me.

3 in the breakaway?

Saturday morning road ride was on tap, Borst and I rolled up to lot to find more non-Flyers than Flyers on a day that was sure to see a record turnout? We rolled out of town and the group stayed together.....until the Hills of Europa, then things got a little strung out?

Once on top we decided that the longer group should just go.....and go we did! Out to Seymour and then over towards Freedom....then onto Oneida and back into the West of Green Bay. A pretty good pace as I myself rolled back in town with 45 miles at a 19.1 mph average! A great training ride that sometimes had me wondering if I was going to hang on.....?

The 3 in the break was that myself, Larson, and Wenzlick were the only 3 Flyers in the long group.....felt like we were in a breakaway in a 1 day classic in Europe. A good hard ride that can only help us.....cause it did not kill us....seriously a great ride.

I hope the others in the shorter group got a good workout in, I want to make sure everyone knows that the Saturday morning ride will always have the two options and I encourage everyone to show up! It is a great training ride and will indeed help you when the WORS season gets here....do not be afraid that you will be left on the road somewhere....not going to happen and the more you come the better you will get!

Please keep the day of May 2nd open....trail work at the camp! I hope with a roster of almost 60 that we can have a good showing and get a lot done in a short time...and then ride of course :)

The Kits hit the road.

The Chilton Flash rolled into Green Bay last night for a short ride to break in the new kits, so we rolled north into yet another headwind that stayed a headwind the entire ride! Good ride and just nice to get outside in a little warmer weather, Borst was out in the same area as well....so a few of the kits were flown.

Team rider and model showing off the look, kind of has a little Rock Racing look going on.....we be bad!
Sorry about the two riders showing up for the Wednesday night ride, we can try to get it going next week on Earth day! See you all tonight for clothing pick-up!

Lots of clothing......lots of clothing!

58 pounds of team clothing laying on the floor of the dining room, enough to satisfy just over 55 riders!

As the sorting and bagging begins, my trusty assistants set out with the plan.....a well oiled machine we are....Kennedy fulfilling the role of "order picker."

Mom on the computer with the order in front of her, Kennedy brings the goods and bags them up, we had to start by seperating the 3 cuts of jerseys, the two styles of bottoms and the different styles of jackets.....once that was done....each rider has a bag with his/her clothing in it awaiting you all in the garage.

There is the mass of bags sitting in the garage, that is where you will find me Thursday night with a beer and the laptop.....come and get em'!

Just a little sneak peak for you all.....we gonna be a good lookin' bunch of racers and riders in the next couple of days! I really think they turned out great, props to Noah for putting up with me in the design process and to Don and Mariola from Verge.....Mariola had to show me all of the shades of green until I was happy and went with the first one she showed me :)
So the next step is here, come and get the clothing and get ready to hit the races, hope you all like the look!
Thanks to the Hauser girls for helping me with the sorting...would have taken a lot longer doing it all alone!

Weekend update and the week ahead.

Sounds like we had a good turnout for the Saturday Morning ride, I pasted a report from Wenzlick's blog below. Sunday we had a small group of 4 for the Easter ride....just made that up?

The week ahead should have the clothing arriving, supposed to see it Wednesday, that will work out perfect for the Thursday night pick-up at my place, what did I say.....615pm? That works for me, no meeting or anything, just stop by and grab your goods.....shoot the breeze and be on your way.....or stick around for a beer and some snacks if you like? Nothing too extensive.....I gots to dance at 930pm!

Question for you all, should we attempt a Wednesday night ride or just stick with the Saturday morning ride? I lean towards the Saturday ride, gets tough to get to a week night ride for a lot of people? Email me your thoughts? Have a good week,

Couple new faces on the ride and great weather
Had another great turnout today. probably started with around twelve or so in the parking lot. I was not feeling in top form today so I was toward the back of the group today. I know that we did catch one or two other groups along the way, so probably had about the same number as last week. We even had a couple new guys that saw our ride out on the newvelo site. Our group split ways again doing probably 25, 35, and more.

We did have one little incident that luckily resulted in no bodily harm. We had a sudden turn and Matt Lanser got hooked together to another bike while braking. Matt had a broken spoke but could ride on without any trouble. Really no ones fault, the turn came up fast and no one in the back was prepared.

So as we met and saddled up for the Saturday morning ride.....the one thing that everyone agreed on....this weather has got to go.....go far away!
A nice turnout for the ride this week, we are growing! 18 hearty and well dressed fellas showed up ready to get after it......off we go.
The group stuck together for the first part of the ride, up to "death row," named for two reasons; first is the fact that we take a left at the cemetery, and second......the mile or so stretch has the tendency to shatter the group for a few miles after.....many a rider has been blow up on this stretch! If you don't catch the wheel in front of you......good luck to you my friend!
A little further up the road the group split into two, a longer and a shorter......nice to have that option so everyone gets the desired workout. Of course no matter the route you chose, you were guaranteed a nice headwind in almost every direction.....that great Wisco weather.
I know that personally after a hard day in the wind on Friday and then a pretty intense ride by the group today......I was feeling the love by the time we rolled back into town! I hope everyone had a good ride and is cool with the split, good to see the numbers increase for the Saturday ride.....can we see 20-25 next week?!?!?!
Get ready for the snow, nothing planned for Sunday....have a good rest of the weekend.
